Two knobbed whelk shells were handcarved as reflections of each other and molded to create these unique oxidized sterling silver seashell earrings. Each shell is approximately 5/8 inches (1.6 cm) wide at its widest point by 1 1/8 inches (2.8 cm) tall and hangs from a sterling silver leverback ear wire. (Total length including the ear wire is approximately 1 3/4 inches (4.4 cm).) Interestingly the knobbed whelk is New Jersey’s state seashell which being my home state made carving these shells even more meaningful for me.
