Fairy in the Clouds, Watercolor Painting

Inspired by a poem about fairies, I solely used my imagination to sketch & paint this fantasy scene of a fairy creating magical clouds that twist and turn around her. Painting with watercolors allowed me to give this mythological design a dreamy effect and seem right out of the imaginary worlds I used to picture as a kid. I primarily used cool colors of blues and purples to give the piece a more relaxed atmosphere with a calming nature as would be associated with entering a dreamworld. A touch of white gouache was also used, adding flecks of white to the clouds to enhance their mystical feel.

The painting is approximately 8 1/8 inches (20.6 cm) wide by 10 3/4 inches (27.3 cm) tall on watercolor paper 9 inches (22.9 cm) by 11 3/4 inches (29.8 cm). It is unframed and will be shipped flat.
